FIR HDL Writer Beta 0.9.0 Release Notes

Installation instructions are located in the installation directory (README.html) which may be viewed with any web browser (Firefox, Internet Explorer, or Safari).

A sample coefficient file (with 35 coefficients) is located in the installation directory called SAMPLE_COEF_35_0200.txt

The beta version of the FIR HDL Writer does not support multi-channel interpolation or multi-channel decimation filters. A warning will be issued, and the filter will be converted to a multi-channel single rate filter. You may manually padd the input for each channel with zeros to interpolate, or drop data after filtering to decimate. Expect support for this feature very soon.

In Windows systems, open files generated by the FIR HDL Writer with WordPad, ISE, Quartus, or any text editor. Note : on Windows systems, NotePad does not properly recognize/translate between newline and carriage return codes, do not use NotePad (use WordPad instead).

In order to obtain maximum performance with Quartus, make sure to turn on register retiming.

The design files produced by the FIR HDL Writer software has been tested using ISE 9.1i and Quartus II 7.1.
